Evo Music Rooms- April 1st 2010

Got tickets last week for the new Channel 4 talent search "Evo Music Rooms". The format for the show follows four acts- an influential act from the past, the current music scene, and the future, and the "next big thing" in music! (I know the sofa area looks sort of like it was on fire.. but it wasn't that extreme)

The night started off with The Specials, who were amazing live! Can see why last year's tour was so popular.

There was a lot of waiting around after that, although the production company were nice enough to give out free Stella- which lasted for about 10 minutes, obviously for that 'authentic' gig atmosphere!

There was a mad scrum to get into the sofa area where Edith Bowman was filming artist interviews - only about 15 people got in, but it meant standing around for about half an hour waiting and "being quiet" - which didn't go down too well, needless to say...

(Stella + authority= errr, no.)

At one point a guy got escorted out by security for shouting loads of stuff about waiting, he was none too happy!

One of the other highlights of the night was definitely being told for the millionth time to be quiet:

Security: (shouting) "Can EVERYONE else keep quiet please, just so we can finish filming this bit?"
Random irate audience member: (shouting equally loudly) "What was that?"

After that they had the American band The Drums, then the new 'up and coming' act who was a lady called Cathy JJ, she was pretty good, sounded a bit like Duffy. The night closed with another band I was looking forward to, The Doves. Hearing them perform "Black and White Town" was definitely worth the wait!
