Avenue Q

Went to see this on Friday at the Wyndham's Theatre in the West End...

Words fail me- it was amazing! So funny. Definitely worth watching, especially if you don't really watch plays that often. Or if you liked Sesame Street....?

Dissertation Survey

Hey everyone!
As part of my dissertation research, which is into the area of Moral Panic, I've created a survey to gather public opinion on the issue.

The survey can be found here , and literally takes shorter time than it does to make a cup of tea!

Thanks in advance for your answers, really appreciate it.

Evo Music Rooms- April 1st 2010

Got tickets last week for the new Channel 4 talent search "Evo Music Rooms". The format for the show follows four acts- an influential act from the past, the current music scene, and the future, and the "next big thing" in music! (I know the sofa area looks sort of like it was on fire.. but it wasn't that extreme)

The night started off with The Specials, who were amazing live! Can see why last year's tour was so popular.

There was a lot of waiting around after that, although the production company were nice enough to give out free Stella- which lasted for about 10 minutes, obviously for that 'authentic' gig atmosphere!

There was a mad scrum to get into the sofa area where Edith Bowman was filming artist interviews - only about 15 people got in, but it meant standing around for about half an hour waiting and "being quiet" - which didn't go down too well, needless to say...

(Stella + authority= errr, no.)

At one point a guy got escorted out by security for shouting loads of stuff about waiting, he was none too happy!

One of the other highlights of the night was definitely being told for the millionth time to be quiet:

Security: (shouting) "Can EVERYONE else keep quiet please, just so we can finish filming this bit?"
Random irate audience member: (shouting equally loudly) "What was that?"

After that they had the American band The Drums, then the new 'up and coming' act who was a lady called Cathy JJ, she was pretty good, sounded a bit like Duffy. The night closed with another band I was looking forward to, The Doves. Hearing them perform "Black and White Town" was definitely worth the wait!

A few questions on McDonald's ethics!

Hello fellow bloggers!
As you were all so helpful last time, I would really appreciate it if you could have a look at my survey written for an Ethics, Issues and Crisis Management assignment on McDonald's and their ethics.

The survey can be found here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JBCRHNV and will only take a couple of minutes of your time- but in return you'll find out some interesting facts about the biggest fast food retailer in the world!

Thankyou!

Celebrity Endorsement or Sponsorship?

The 'Best Live Act' campaign won Gold Award status through using a range of publicity methods, including charity links with Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy, and endorsement from a range of celebrities and companies.

So, I'd like to ask for your thoughts. What sort of campaign appeals to you? Would you prefer to be approached by your favourite celebrity figure to grab your attention? Or do you think you'd be more likely to listen to a good cause, such as a charity?

Some famous campaigns in the past have used a combination of celebrities and charity, like Children in Need, or Comic Relief. Does this appeal to you? And which other campaigns can you think of?

Let me know what you think and why, all answers are greatly appreciated!

Best Live Act- Gold Award campaign winner

Hello all! Welcome to my blog.

My chosen campaign from the CIPR Pride Awards 2008/09 was by Visit Scotland, for their "Best Live Act" Campaign. This won a Gold Award in the category for the Best Use of Social Media.
Their sites can be found here: http://bestliveact.visitscotland.com/ http://www.myspace.com/visitscotlandbestliveact

The campaign won Gold for its creative use of social media channels, amongst other traditional sources of promotion such as media partnership and industry endorsement. This included the likes of HMV, festival information website Virtual Festivals, eBay, and Facebook, to name but a few...

http://www.virtualfestivals.com/

Best Live Act managed to rally loads of support and sponsorship from key acts on the music and entertainment scene, like The Charlatans, Glasvegas, KT Tunstall, Dermot O' Leary and Paolo Nutini.

A couple of these acts also helped to raise money from over 30 eBay auctions, which was donated to the charity Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy: www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk/

I'm going to be using this blog over the next few days to find out how effective you think celebrity endorsement really is, in comparison to other publicity methods, such as charity sponsorship.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
